A fall tax tip: If you are at least age 70 1⁄2, you can use your IRA to make donations directly from the IRA to a nonprofit without it being income to you, so you avoid paying taxes on the amount. Such a donation counts toward the annual required minimum distribution. It’s a great way to make the most of an end-of-year contribution to the Sheffield Land Trust.
