In 2008, 47 members, more than in any previous year, donated major gifts of $1,000 or more to Sheffield Land Trust to support land protection projects and/or the membership campaign, representing 87% of SLT's income from individual contributions that year.

This year, we have embarked upon our largest land protection initiative ever. The Sheffield-Egremont Agricultural, Ecological and Scenic Corridor is a rarity in the northeast, a relatively intact and unfragmented rural landscape. We are raising $1M from the local community and an additional $1M from other sources to save this landscape which has been recognized as being of critical importance in multiple land trust, town and state plans and inventories because of its wildlife habitat, agricultural soils and stunning beauty.
